Severe Storm Hits U.S. West Coast

California experiences heavy rains, snow, hail, flooding, and landslides.

The West Coast of the U.S. has been hit with what forecasters call a “bomb cyclone” which is the result of a storm system out of the Pacific known as the Pineapple Express. This strong atmospheric river is creating life-threatening conditions, including high winds, flash flooding, and landslides. Over 30 thousand customers are without power and at least three people have died at this point.

The National Weather Service issued a warning that stated, “There will be many potential problems associated with this storm system including urban and small stream flooding, rocks and debris on roads, downed trees, and numerous power outages, and mud and debris flows out of recent burn areas.”

Officials have issued high wind and high surf warnings as well as flood and travel advisories. They stated, “Travel is not recommended.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For state and local officials as they endeavor to keep residents safe from the severe weather.
  • For safety and protection for those, such as first responders, who are out in the elements.
  • For those is the midst of the severe storm to find shelter and remain in protected areas.
